ARALAGUPPE MALLEGOWDA DISTRICT HOSPITAL CHIKKAMAGALURU
Situated at the Chikkamagaluru District head Quarters, Aralaguppe Mallegowda Hospital has a legendary history of about 90 years. A quick look into the legendary history of this great hospital.
The hospital was started in the found memory of Mr.Aralaguppe Mallegowda, Father of Mr.Dharmaprakash chandregowda born at Aralaguppe village, Chikkamgaluru.
Inaugurated by the then king of Mysore dynasty shri.Krishna Rajendra Wadeyar on 26/01/1929, Aralaguppe Mallegowda Hospital was presented to the service of people on 02/03/1932 by the then great prince Shri.Kantheerava Narasimha Raja Wadeyar Bahaddur.
On 02/03/1932, Ophthalmology clinic was also dedicated for service by Shri.Kanteerava Narasimha Raja Wadeyar in the fond memory of late Mysore Krishnashetty & Mysore Siddannashetty.
Smt.Rukminiyamma Maternal & Child health Hospital was inaugurated by the then Mysore princess smt.Kempu Cheluvammanni on 25/02/1935 & donor’s statue were installed on the same day.
Thus, Chikkamagaluru Dist Hospital has been giving health facilities for the betterment of public & in year 2000, the hospital was renovated under Karnataka Health System Reforms Development Project [KHSRDP].
On 19/01/2003, Air Conditioned 10 beds capacity burns ward was started with the help of funds donated by Lions & Lioness club and donors Smt Lata, Shri.H.R.Janardhan Rao, Chikkamagaluru and Shri.J.P.Narayana Gowda & brothers.
On 04/04/2008 Telemedicine Unit was started to consult specialists at renowned hospitals in Bangalore to provide the best treatment facilities.
Dialysis unit was started on 01/05/2009 to fulfill the requirement of dialysis patients, which has been taken over by B.R.Shetty Health & Research Institute, Bangalore from June 2017 on Outsourcing and continues to serve the people of Chikkamgaluru.
1st time in Chikkamgaluru district, Special New Born Care Unit (SNCU) was launched under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) at Rukminiyamma Maternal & Child Health Hospital on 23/02/2011 to give special care to Low birth weight newborns & children suffering from medical ailments.
Nutrition Rehabilitation centre (NRC) was started 17/01/2013 at Smt.Rukminiyamma Women & Children Hospital where children with severe acute malnutrition (SAM) are admitted & managed.
Non- Communicable diseases (NCD) Clinic and geriatric ward was established from 2016.
To provide more detailed & precise diagnosis of disease CT scan unit was started by the assistance of KRSNAA agency of health department of 17/07/2018.
Dental Unit was established in the year 2017 under NOHP
In the year 2020, separate ward for COVID-19 patients was started to treat COVID patients.
ICU was also established in the year 2020 to provide intensive care to critically ill patients.
To catre the need of central oxygen for patients LMO Plant has been started.
On 01/08/2020 a separate molecular diagnostic virology laboratory for detection of COVID-19 was set up.
